Network Security – All about Firewalls

It is important to have a firewall in place in the system to prevent the network security threats before the network is built up and internet is run on it. A firewall is a widely used network internet security program which a lot of users rely on whether their purpose is personal or organizational. A firewall is sufficiently equipped with the tools and techniques that are more than enough to avoid any network security threats. The need of a network internet security becomes way more important when the network consists of systems that carry vital information of a person’s identity or important documentation about the organization. If you are using a personal computer at home and you are concerned about the threats you may get from the use of internet, then you can rely on anti-virus software. You may download or install anti-virus software to your computer and turn on its firewall protection which will keep you updated about the virus protection and any other threats that have been detected and dealt with.

However, it is different when you are using a computer that is a part of a network. The rules remain the same whether it is a home network or organizational network. Both the networks are equally important. It is important to understand that comparatively smaller networks can have the same network security threats which larger networks might get. So the level of network internet security has to be same in both the cases and just because you are dealing with a smaller network does not mean that you do not have to be concerned about the network internet security and take the network security threats easy.

With the use of a firewall one can easily handle the network security threats. For better understanding a firewall can be expressed as a program that tackles the forces coming from the outside as a threat to the network. And the reason why it is called firewall is because it prevents any loss of data or information from the system.
